2012
It was on 9/8/12 at the Saco River Hunting Retriever Club HRC hunt test in Buxton, ME that Poppa Llew earned his Seasoned title: HR SHR SR Snowden Hill Justa Fairview Illusion, JH, WCI. Loved trained and handlled by Cheryl Palmer.
Can Ch Grampian Tiki Torch, JH, WC earned her Junior Hunting title on September 12, 2012. Bred, trained and owned by Robin Anderson and Gerrie Owren.
Elaine Capone wanted to thank everyone at the June Specialty Shows for being so supportive in her first breed experience with the puppy bitch Grampian Hi’Ilawe (KONO) when she placed in their sweeps class. The sweepstakes money was donated by Elaine and Kono to Labrador Life Line, hoping that another dog will benefit from their success. (Ch Blackthorn Rocks U Too x Can Ch Grampian Tiki Torch, JH, WC) Kono went on to compete on Cape Cod, winning Best Puppy in Breed both days, and a Puppy Group IV too!
Thorn’s most recent accomplishment: He and Penny Shultz won the CRDTC’s Rena Fucillo memorial trophy for highest score team at the club’s trial in March. They did it with a score of 193.5 in Utility B. It was the first time Penny has ever won this trophy, and it’s really an honor to have Thorn and her name added to a plaque that contains the names of so many other wonderful obedience teams. Penny decided to semi-retire Thorn from competitive obedience over the summer, but brought him out one more time for fun. Winning this award was a really nice way to top off his stellar obedience career. The torch has now been passed to Little Miss Aspen! Owner/Trainer: Penny Shultz
Birchangreen’s Rising Tide MH MNH QAA qualified at the 2012 Master National in Alabama. This is Tide’s third straight pass at the Master National which earns him a spot on the Master National Hall of Fame. He is already qualified for the 2013 MN in Kansas. Earlier this summer he earned his third second place finish in a Qualifying Stake by placing 2nd at the Mid Jersey Field Trial. Tide is bred/ owned by Nona King of Birchangreen Labradors. He is trained, handled and co-owned by Tara Yohan.
What a year for Ch Grampian Sharp Shooter, JH, CGC, WC who finished in Topsfield during June 2012 after earning his CGC at this first Potomac and his Junior Hunter title and Working Certificate after only one summer of training. He subsequently was declared Junior Dog of the Year by the Yankee Waterfowlers Hunting Retriever Club! The dog nobody wanted is now living with his ‘dad’ Joe and two school aged kids while he waits for his next show in February .....WESTMINSTER! Shooter earned all his titles in just over a year between the ages of 5-6 once he returned to Grampian after his original man died tragically from cancer. Hooray for Shooter, the traveling man! Bred, loved, owned and trained by Robin Anderson, Gerrie Owren and Jen Leitao (who always wanted to keep him).
Macgreggor’s Hollaback Girl CD, ASCA CD, ASCA RN, NW1 aka Gwen, got her Nosework 1 title in October at a trial hosted by Masterpeace Dog Training in Dighton Ma. Gwen also got 3rd place for her time in the interior search room. Gwen’s overall search time for the 4 elements was 2.02.16 sec. Gwen was bred by Beth Teixeira Gwillim and owned by Donna Gray.
At only 3 ½ yrs old, Jade “aka” Pleasant Pine’s Hidden Treasure, CDX, MH, WCX, CC, CGC , owned and trained by Karen Kennedy, are going and COMPETING in the 2012 Master National in Alabama. Between the end of April 2012 and mid-July 2012, they passed 6 Master Test to not only complete our Master Hunter Title but also received her Qualification to go to the Master National.
Jade and Karen are also a great obedience tean. Competing in only 4 shows in Novice, Jade and Karen were the 10th ranked Labrador Retriever in the country in 2011.
On Saturday, Cory and Joel
competed in a very nice obedience
trial put on by the local
Corgi club. As some of you may
know, until Cory came along,
Joel had never competed with a
dog in the Open class. Well, I’m
happy to report that he and Cory
got their first qualifying score in
Open at this trial. Cory was a
little laggy during some of the
heeling, but perked up once all
the jumping and retrieving began.
However, overall, they had
a very nice performance and
ended up with a 3rd place. I
was very proud of them both!
Finally, Aspen and I attended
our penultimate puppy class on
Sunday. Right now the class
is focused on preparing all the
puppies to take their AKC STAR
puppy test next week during the
last class. The STAR program/test is kind of like a pre-Canine
Good Citizen test. To pass, the
puppies must be under one year
old (check) show that they know
a series of basic obedience commands
like sit and down (check
and check) and that they come
when called from a short distance
(check!), will walk nicely on
a leash for a short period of time
with and w/o distractions (check!), will allow their owner to groom
them, hug them and take things away from them (check, check
and check) and that they are healthy, in good body condition
and up to date on all their shots (check!!). If we pass, we will
get a nice certificate and medallion from the AKC. I had never
heard about this program before, but now, having taken part in it,
I must say I think it’s pretty neat - and a great way to get people
motivated to train their puppies! It’s always nice to have a goal! Penny, Joel, “Birthday Boy” Thorn, “NEW CDX CORY” Cory
and Ms. “almost a STAR” Aspen
Pleasant Pine’s
A Bit of Mischief, CDX, MH, WCX,
Can WC, CC,
CGC, aka “Mattie” owned, Handled,
trained, bred and loved by Dick Kennedy completed her
Master Hunter title
with probably the best performance I
have seen her do!
She had 2 clean
triple series, a lined
blind in the first series,
2 nice blinds in
the second series
and a respectable 3rd series.
Karen Kennedy and her Black Lab; “Jade” aka Pleasant Pine’s
Hidden Treasure, CDX, SH, WCX, CC, CGC, earned their CDX
in 3 straight shows after finishing
our CD in October 2011,
going 4/4, We started our CDX
journey in March 2012. At the
Charles River Obedience Trial
on 3/17/12 we got a 2nd place
with a score of 192, a 4th place
and 191.5 at New England Dog
Training Club on 3/31/12, a 193
and 1st place at the RI show in
Warwick on 4/14/12.
Jade and I are also competing in
Master Hunting Tests and have
earned 2 Qualifying scores while
working on our CDX. She needs
2 more to complete her Master
Hunter title.

2011
The 2011 season was full of fun and adventure for Pasta and me.
We hit the ground running in Senior, we learned a lot from some
very nice judges and titled in September at the Main Retriever
Hunt Test. In July we earned our WCX which was a GREAT time!
What a fun day that was. Having the hunting part of our lives under
our belt we decided we would go for a Canine Good Citizen;
try for a Conformation Certificate and we can’t forget the Companion
Dog title. When all was said and done Pasta ended the
year as Riverbenz Pasta Primavera CD, SH, WCX, CGC, CC. Patty Duddy.
Karen and Dick Kennedy and the Pleasant Pine Gang have had a GREAT 2011. Dick and Mattie, aka Pleasant Pine's A Bit of Mischief, CDX, SH, WCX,Can WC, CC, CGC, started the year by getting their 4th Master Hunter leg at the LRCGB Spring Hunt Test.
Then Karen and Cinder, aka Pleasant Pine's Making A Mark, UD, RA, SH, WCX, Can WC, CC, CGC, finished her Rally Advanced Title at the LRCGB Specialty in June. All her Qualification were with placements and 1 Perfect score. Not bad for a 9 1/2 yr old.
Also in June, Karen and Jade, aka Pleasant Pine's Hidden Treasure, CD,SH,WCX, CC, CGC, finished her Senior Hunting Title, then went on to get her Working Certificate Excellent Title in July at the LRCGB WC. They continued working and got their Canine Good Citizen in August.
On September 24/25th, Karen and Jade started their Companion Dog work earning 2 Qualification scores at the Saccarrappa Obedience Trials in Maine with 2 second placements with scores of 197.5 and 196.5. At the LRC National Specialty (less than 2 weeks later) they finished their Companion Dog title with a 1st placement (195.5) and then earned a bumper leg with another 1st place (194.5).
Jade also earned her 1st Master Hunter leg at the Maine Retriever Hunt Test on Labor Day weekend.

Karen and Jade - New CD
Also at the LRC National Specialty, Karen and Nigel, aka Cedarwood's Always Playing at Pleasant Pine, debut in the Conformation ring and placed 4th in all his classes.
Nigel -Yes he's chocolate - 6 months
And finally at the LRC National Specialty both Jade, Pleasant Pine's Hidden Treasure, CD, SH, WCX, CC, CGC and Sam, Pleasant Pine's Returned to Sender, CC, earned their Conformation Certificates. Sam is a dog we bred that has been returned to us after 9 1/2 yrs due to the fact the couple that bought him, after having children discovered their kids were extremely allergic to him.
Rainer Fuchs is pleased to announce that Kaya successfully completed this year's Master National in Rhodesdale, VA. No handles were required on any of the challenging marks. She's now a two-time qualifying dog and can therefore add the Master National Retriever (MNR) title to her name: Timber Town Turn Me Loose MH MNR UD VCD2 RE WCX.
Cathy Shea likes to announce that Luci finished her Master Hunter title at the Yankee Golden Retriever Club hunt test on Oct. 1, 2011. Luci is now Naiad I’m No Angel CDX MH. Luci completed her title this summer by qualifying in 4 of the last 5 tests, without needing to be handled on any of the marks! Cathy would like to thank Luci’s breeder, Doris Aylward, for letting her have this splendid girl, and Dave Sears for all his advice and guidance. Thanks to Lois Munroe for her expert help, and to Cathy's training group for all the happy hours spent training and commiserating and celebrating.
Pattie Duddy is pleased to announce that Pasta earned her Senior Hunter title Labor Day week end at the Maine Retriever Hunt Test. She is now Riverbenz Pasta Primavera SH, WCX, CGC. Now on to Master.
Mother and son qualify for 2011 Master National --- Bob & Donna Pasquale are pleased to report that Ringo earned his Master Hunter title on June 18th . On June 19th, he earned his Hunting Retriever Champion title at the Granite State Finished test. Quite a weekend! Just two weeks later at the Southern Berkshire Master Hunt Test, both Ringo and his mother Layla (HRCH Diva’s Ready to Play Cream CGC RN CD MH) qualified for the 2011 Master National by passing their 6th Master Hunter test of 7 attempts.

It is with great pleasure and pride that I would like to present my
new Champion Master Hunter - CH Seawind’s Fergmar Edubard

Maritime Serenading Spirit. Spirit earned her WCX under Judge
Dave Sears at LRCB test this summer. Spirit earned her rally
title at Nationals this fall. Spirit did not disappoint in the breed
ring this fall, either. She won the Amatuer Owner Handler Class
out of 25 at the Nationals. The following Day at the Friday show
after the Nationals she won her class again and received a very
nice looky loo in the winners bitch class. Spirit has been a joy
to own but, so far, geting her SH was one of my favorite experiences
with her. Anne-marie Galvin.
This was a good year for Danbridge Kathryn’s Emmy Award
CDX, RE, CGC, TDI, CC. Emmy received her Rally Excellent title
at the Wampanoag Kennel Club Rally Trial, on September 30,
held at the Silver City Canine Training Center in Taunton. At the
LRC Specialty in Brooklyn, Connecticut she passed the evaluation
for her Conformation Certificate. She is now training for her
UD and RAE titles with her owner/handler, Shirley Cardello and
hopes to get these titles before she is ten.
MacGregor’s Hollaback

now getting ready

Here is the latest from Yarborough Labradors! I had a very
successful showing year despite beginning 2011 with a diagnosis
of cardiomyopathy and heart failure, all due to a virus
I contracted in late 2010. I recovered enough by April to
begin training and showing again and I am extremely proud
of my Yarborugh girls! I am thankful for the support of my
family, friends and fellow Labrador lovers and look forward
to sharing the show ring with all of you in 2012. Yarborough Sweet Jadzia RA (“Jazz”) made her debut in
the Rally ring at the PVLRC specialty in May. She quickly
earned her RN and RA, finishing her RN at the GMKC show
in July and her RA at the LRC National Specialty in October.
Jazz had a great time in the ring and endlessly entertained
the crowd with her immense enthusiasm. Yarborough Sweet Enterprise CD BN RAE (“Hoshi” and Jazz’s
Mom) finished her show career in grand style in 2011. In October,
she finished her RAE at the LRC National Specialty. In
November, she finished her BN at the BOTC Obedience/Rally
trials. Hoshi is very proud of her daughter, pleased to be retired
and is my constant companion in the house. Yarborough Rare Essential Am/Can CD, Can RA, RE BN (“Kes”)
had a very successful year also. In June, she finished her Canadian
CD and her Canadian RN and RA at the St. Francis Kennel
Club show. In October, Kes finished her BN at the BOTC obedience/
rally trials. She greatly enjoyed competing in Canada and
now is looking forward to working on her CDX.
HRC MEADOWMERE’S LEX MH has 21 Master Hunter passes.
Last year he earned the 6 required passes and went to the Nationals
held in Calif. only to break on the last bird.
This year he earned the required 6 passes and went to the National
held at Venice, MD. He was #43 in the A Flight and ran
all 5 series with no handles and PASSED. He is now a Master
National Qualifier 2011. Owners David and Nancy Corkum of VT & Fla received the beautiful pewter plate, ribbon and engraved
duck band. They are really proud of their boy and if they pass
two more Master Nationals (which they hope to do) Lex will be in
the Master National Hall of Fame.
Lex has earned two passes out in Wisconsin, and 2 passes at
the Nationals, needs two more before July 31, 2012 to earn entry
into Nationals being held in Alabama. Nancy told Breeder Margaret Mitchell that she could brag all she wants. They love
him tons!\

Cory is just racking up the titles
these days! We spent the
weekend in CT at the Labrador
Retriever National Speciality. Joel had Cory entered in both
the Junior Hunt test as well
as for the Conformation Certificate.
We had terrific, albeit
windy, Fall-like weather for the
hunt test on Saturday. Bunny Millikin and Susan Young were the
judges. Despite the wind, Cory nailed both land marks and then
went on to do a really nice job retrieving both marks on water.
He passed and achieved his AKC Junior Hunter title in 4 straight
tests. Then, I took him over to
the conformation ring to have him
judged for the conformation certificate.
I did my best impression of
what I thought the handlers looked
like at Westminster, prancing
around the ring but despite that,
he passed that as well. So, Cory
is now: Grampian Hickory’s
Crimson H2O Dragon, CD, RE,
JH, CC, CGC, ThD. I think the sweetest part of the whole weekend was having so
many friends and past instructors present when Joel went up to
get his ribbon. There have been so many wonderful people who
have helped us achieve so many great things in so many different
areas with our dogs over the years. It was just wonderful to
have so many of them present for this achievement!
Grampian Sharp Shooter, JH, WC, CGC earned his Junior
Hunter title in September after coming back to Grampian as a
returned dog who was ‘too big,
too muddy, too hairy’. ‘Poo-

good, had a wonderful start
in life with a man who adored
him, only to be rehomed when
the man suddenly died. February
13th, 2011 Shooter arrived
in Boston via Detroit from Illinois
when his owners of three
years agreed he was better
off with us. Since his arrival
Shooter earned his CGC at
Potomac 2011, his Junior title
in 2011 in September, and his
WC at the National along with
two Junior bumper legs, handled
by co-owner Jen Leitao.
Jen chose Shooter when he was only five weeks old and took
him back with loving arms at 51/2 years old. Shooter has 7 AKC
CH points (including one major) and all his clearances. What a
year for The Poo! Shooter is by Ch Hollyhills Delby’s Samuel

Timber Town Turn Me Loose, MH, UD, VCD2, RE (Kaya) and owner/trainer/handler Rainer Fuchs qualified for the 2011 Master National at the Hudson Highland Hunting Retriever Association hunt test on June 4.
8 months ago an X-ray revealed
that Echo had 1 puppy. I read up on all the things that could go
wrong and luckily we had none of the problems. We called him
Mr. Singleton but name was changed when he went to his new
home. A month later he was returned as the man’s wife couldn’t
cope with him. He moved back into my kitchen and was quite at
home with his crate & toys. I took him outdoors to play and in no
time he was retrieving a tiny bumper. Dave & Nancy Corkum who own and trained our HRC Meadowmere’s
Lex MH were on our waiting
list for another pup. I called to
tell them they should take a look
at this pup. They drove 7 hrs from
VT, had lunch and took him back
with them. Two weeks later he
traveled with them to the National
Masters in Calif. where Lex ran.
Then back to VT, down to winter
home in Florida and started training
in GA.
Nancy had always thrown the
dead ducks and helped with training
other dogs, but never run a dog herself. The training group
encouraged her to run him. He qualified all 4 legs finishing his
title at 8 months old 4/2/11 at Atlanta RC, Ga. CONGRATULATIONS
to Meadowmere’s Mallard Gunner JH, and Nancy.
Bunny’s Spring of 2011
In the fall of 2010 we decided that
Bunny would stay at home for the
winter rather than going south with
a professional dog trainer. Bunny’s
first career is that of a field trial dog,
so spending winters away from home
with a professional was the norm.
Coming to us as a two year old in
2005, Bunny began competing in
trials and became All Age Qualified during that year. In 2006
she completed her Master Hunter title and won three Qualifying
stakes: two is the maximum allowed unless the entries have
already closed for the next trial. In 2007 she qualified for and
competed in the National Amateur; she has also qualified for and
competed in that trial in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. In addition
she qualified for and competed in the National Open in 2009.
2008 was a banner year for Bunny; she completed her Field
Champion title, her Amateur Field Champion title, and she won a
Double Header: winning both the Amateur and Open stakes the
same weekend with an amateur handler.
Bunny likes to learn. She loves drills. She’s a team player. She
lives in our house. As the next logical step for Bunny was a winter
of obedience, we trained in the living room, in the driveway, and
in the Canine Training Association buildings in Davidsonville and
Beltsville.
In February she went to her first and only match which was held
by the Labrador Retriever Club of the Chesapeake and was High
in Match. Entering all three days of obedience at the Maryland
Sporting Dog trial in March, Bunny won all three of her classes
and was awarded High in Trial at her first show. Today she is
a Companion Dog, having earned all of her scores in the mid
190’s.
In mid-April Bunny was entered in rally and obedience for three
Member
Accomplishments
days at the Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac specialty
show. At this show Bunny earned her Rally Novice title and was
either first or second in all of her classes. A week later she was
entered in an all-breed show where she won her novice obedience
class and earned her first rally advanced leg with a class

I just wanted to send out a quick
note and picture and let everyone
know that Thorn and I got our UD
yesterday at the Wampanogue
Kennel Club show in Tauton with
a very nice score and a first place
win. Thorn is my first dog to achieve
the title of Utility Dog. I know
that not every dog can achieve
a
UD title, but I knew fairly early on
that if any of my dogs could
do
it, he could. And he has
really worked hard with me all
the way. Showing him in Utility
has been quite the learning
experience for both of us - one
that no one can really prepare you for until you’ve experience
it yourself. Thanks to everyone who has been so supportive to both
me and Thorn on our way to this title! Penny Shultz and Thorn (aka Mythago’s Green Hawthorn UD, RE, JH,
